Today we went on a little road trip to Doc Let beach. It’s one hour and a half to get there from Nha Trang. It was a beautiful day; beautiful weather, beautiful road, beautiful beach, beautiful Vietnam. As usual. When we got there we were amazed by the beach, by the mountains, by the ocean, by everything surrounding us. We swam, we walked on the beach, we looked at the mountains… and then, we were bored. After only two hours, we got bored. We enjoyed the view, and enjoyed the warm ocean. Then, what are we supposed to do? Stay and get tanned? We are not really those kinds of people. We take the road again? But, we just arrived. And? We enjoyed everything there was to enjoy. Why not go enjoy something new? So we left after only two hours on the beach. On the way back, we stopped in the rice fields, we stopped for Vietnamese street food, we took pictures of this amazing country and we intentionally got lost and discovered a little bit more. OH! And we rushed for a gas station because I was too amazed by the view I forgot to look at the gas tank. Oups..
When I came home, I realized what the famous quote «It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey to get there» was all about. It’s about taking pleasure in every moment of your life, in every new landscape you see and may never see again. It’s about feeling the sun’s heat on your face. It’s about being amazed by everything you see and feel. It’s about living in the present, forgetting about the past and not worrying about the future that may not come. It’s about enjoying the road more than the beach. That’s what we did today, and it felt pretty good. Even though the beach and the ocean were more than amazing, the road was more than perfect.
Doc Let beach is beautiful and worth seeing, definitely. But, the road from Nha Trang is even more worth seeing. Drive slowly and don’t just look in front of you, look around you.
